ONE of the country's most inventive landscape painters is running a course in Pembrokeshire – and booking has reopened after a small number of spaces became available.

The workshops at Rhosygilwen offer a unique opportunity to be tutored by one of Britain’s leading landscape painters.

In this five-day landscape painting course David Tress will be looking at the building blocks of representational landscape painting – light, space, tone, colour, composition – and will also be exploring expressive responses to landscape.

Each day will include demonstrations and studio work, and sketching and drawing in the countryside surrounding Rhosygilwen Mansion.

The course itself will primarily take place in The Oak Hall (Neuadd y Dderwen). Wet weather clothes will be needed.

Tuition will be both as a group, with demonstrations and discussions, and individually for all course members with help, discussion and suggestions. Demonstrations will be in acrylic, some of them using mixed media and collage.

This course is suited to those with painting experience. The fee includes tuition, accommodation, and lunches and evening meals for five nights (August 25-30 inclusive)

On the night of August 25 there will be a ‘meet and greet’ for participants to get to know other members on the course, and David, too.

Details of the course and Rhosygilwen can be obtained by phoning 01239 841387 for more information and a booking form. (Leave a message if there is no reply).

The price is £780 for residential guests and £500 for non-residential.
