THE Narberth Book Fair returns to the Queen's Hall on Saturday and Sunday, September 28-29, from 10am-4pm.

It will again coincide with the ever-popular Narberth Food Festival, proving C S Lewis right that: 'Eating and reading are two pleasures that combine admirably.'

The Book Fair has been organised by local writers Judith Barrow and Thorne Moore and brings together over 50 authors from across Wales and beyond, representing every genre and all ready to chat, sign and sell their books.

"We're happiest in the company of book lovers and looking forward to meeting new readers as well as re-acquainting with old friends," said Judith.

Among those attending this year’s event will be detective fiction writers Jan Newton and Cheryl Rees-Price; children’s authors Karen Ritchie and Colin Parsons; Sally Spedding and Catherine Marshall, representing the psychological crime genre and historical fiction writers Graham Watkins and Juliet Greenwood.

The weekend includes a series of workshops for both established and aspiring authors which have been generously supported by Literature Wales.

Freelance writer and film producer Phil Rowlands will be heading a session on Script Writing - From Story to Screenplay’. Phil’s new drama, Pili Pala, is currently running on S4C on Sundays at 9pm.

Award-winning children’s author Sharon Tregenza will be explaining the art of writing for children, while acclaimed writer Judith Arnopp will be explaining how to start historical fiction research.

The fair will again be supporting the charity Burns by Your Side, through merchandise sales.

The charity trains volunteers and their companion dogs to go into schools and listen to children read, especially those who find communicating difficult, as reading to a dog helps reduces stress levels in children and helps them gain confidence.

Some of the volunteers and their specially-trained dogs will be at the fair to raise awareness of the charity.

These and other workshops are free to attend, but numbers may be limited. To reserve a place, email narberthbookfair@gmail.com, or trust to luck on the day.
