Martyn Joseph, one of Wales’ most talented and popular singer-songwriters returns to Theatr Mwldan, Cardigan tomorrow night (Thursday), bringing some new songs as well as favourite material.

There’s nothing predictable about a Martyn Joseph gig — only that it could make you laugh, cry, get you thinking and leave you reeling.

A mean guitar player with a powerful voice, Martyn was voted Best Male Artist in the BBC Welsh Music Awards.

An acoustic artist of electrifying spontaneity, this gifted and gracious Welshman has five top 50 hits to his name (including Dolphins Make Me Cry and Please Sir) and has been in demand on both sides of the Atlantic for more than two decades.

Touring both solo and with the likes of Ani DiFranco, Art Garfunkel and Jools Holland, he has won fans everywhere with his melting pot of material which ranges from rock to blues, jazz, Americana and even, funk folk.

Fans have said his gigs are like taking a rollercoaster ride with a chameleon as he dips and dives between mighty and meek songs, railing against the broken promise playground of global leaders, throwing in some wry humour, holding tight to common man anthems and then disarming for unexpectedly fragile love songs that can knock you sideways.

Tickets for Martyn Joseph are £13 (£12 concessions). Call the box office on 01239 621200 or visit www.mwldan.co.uk.

Also at Theatr Mwldan this week is Opera Teifi, which is bringing audiences its annual musical treat to start the winter with a bang.

This year it’s off to the Wild West as they meet up with that well-known frontier woman, Calamity Jane.

With a musical score featuring favourites such as The Deadwood Stage, Higher than a Hawk, The Windy City, and Black Hills of Dakota, you won’t be able to keep your toes from tapping: so Whip-Crack-Away down to Theatr Mwldan and join Calamity Jane and company in their favourite watering-hole, the Golden Garter Saloon.

For your chance to experience the Wild West at first-hand, Opera Teifi is performing from Tuesday, November 24th to Saturday, November 28th. Tickets are £9.
