A 49-year-old postman from Kilgetty, who was found hanged in Pantmaenog Forest near Rosebush in October, had got everything ready to go to work the next day, a coroner’s inquest has heard.

Graham Kenneth Jenkins, of Oakfield Drive, was found dead on October 29th.

An inquest held last Thursday (February 28th) heard Mr Jenkins and his wife, Valerie, were very close and did everything together.

On October 28th Mr Jenkins had been to see his family in Clynderwen and appeared to be in good spirits.

Mrs Jenkins had been expecting him home at 5.30pm and became concerned when he had not returned by 6.30pm.

At 7.15am the following morning forest workers found Mr Jenkins.

In a statement read aloud by HM deputy coroner for Pembrokeshire Gareth Lewis, Mrs Jenkins said her husband had polished his shoes for work, arranged for a colleague to pick him up and even changed his alarm clock ready for an earlier start.

A post-mortem examination found the cause of death to be asphyxia by hanging.

Returning a narrative verdict, Mr Lewis said: “His intention remains unclear.”

In a statement read aloud at the inquest, Mr Jenkins’ brother, Garry Jenkins, said: “His loss is a blow from which we, as a family, will never truly recover.”
