A local man, charged with three allegations of assault relating to an incident in a Fishguard pub, appeared in front of Haverfordwest magistrates this morning.
Christopher Peter John Burton, aged 23, of Flat 4, Firtree Close, Merlins Bridge, is believed to be a deaf mute and communicated with the court through a signing interpreter to confirm his name, age and address.
He was charged with wounding landlady Diane Evans of the Ship and Anchor, and Rhydian Havard manager of the Coach House, and assaulting a police officer while executing his duty.
The charges relate to an incident in the Ship and Anchor pub on Wednesday night, which left Mrs Evans and Mr Havard in hospital with knife injuries.
Michael Kelleher defending made no application for bail, and magistrates decided that due to the nature and seriousness of the crime, Burton should be remanded in custody until his case is heard at Swansea Crown Court on Tuesday April 3rd.
