WINNERS of the recent West Wales Young Artist competition were presented with prizes during a packed gallery show last week.

Talented local pupils impressed judges with their work, which was on display at The Gallery Yr Oriel, Newport, at a Christmas Show.

Helen Manley Jones, who organised the contest, praised the high standard of work produced by the young artists, and thanked all those involved in the competition, which attracted 43 entries.

She said: “A big congratulations to all of them, it was a high standard all round.”

Theo Crutchley-Mack from Cardigan won the over 20 age group. Ieuan Thomas from Ysgol Bro Gwaun, Fishguard, and Owen Mount Stevens from Tasker Milward, Haverfordwest, took joint first place in the under 20 age group.

Joint second place went to Nia Tyrrell of Ysgol Bro Gwaun, Anastasia Cooper of Tasker Milward and Lyneth Allen of Ysgol Bro Gwaun.

The top three winners will join the gallery in London for Welsh Art Week in March 2016.
