VALENTINE’S Day celebrations were cut short for St Davids RNLI volunteers on Sunday, when they were called out to evacuate an injured tanker crew man.
The all-weather lifeboat launched at 2.15pm and headed to the tanker Sarah Desgagnes, which was located in St Brides Bay.
The lifeboat pulled up alongside the tanker and two of the crew members went aboard to assess the casualty, who was a 26 year-old Canadian man suffering with an infected foot and leg.
He was transferred to the lifeboat and taken to St Justinians station, where he was met by St Davids Coastguard before being taken to Withybush Hospital for treatment.
The lifeboat rehoused at 4.20pm.
