She is definitely the oldest woman in Pembrokeshire and possibly in all of Wales: Mrs Jessie May Langton celebrated her 104th birthday with cake and fizz today at Bush Residential Home where she has lived for the last three years.

Mrs Langton is still in fabulous health and in fact lived on her own until nine years ago, she still managed to crack a wry smile as friends and family sang Happy Birthday.

Born in Long Park, Cresselly, Jessie is the last of seven siblings and despite living for some time in Lancashire, returned to Cosheston, Pembroke back in 1967.

Jessie moved to Bush House from Gumfeston Residential Home following a late night fire in the building but surprised and delighted family by settling in immediately.

Pam Cook who cares for Jessie, as well as other residents, was delighted to celebrate the day with her oldest client, who still gets up for every meal and converses with staff.

Jessie was joined today by nieces Dulcie Lewis and Dorothy Gwyther, nephew Albert Allaway also joined the celebration.

The party was recorded by the Western Telegraph's video team and will be on the website next week.

As niece Dorothy said: "Fancy it, 104 and on the internet."
