THE body of a man in his 60s has been found in the water near Sandy Haven, Milford Haven.

A multi-agency search was launched out after reports of a kayaker going missing in the water.

A police spokesman said missing man - a visitor from the Bridgend area - was located at around 11.30pm.

It is understood he had been on board a two-person kayak which capsized after leaving Sandy Haven beach near Herbrandston.

Police received a report at 8.50pm of a man missing in the water.

The Coastguard Rescue Helicopter from Cardiff St Athan, Dale Coastguard Rescue Team (CRT), Broad Haven CRT, RNLI Angle Inshore and Offshore lifeboats, Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service were involved in the search.

A Milford Haven fishing vessel also assisted for a time before being advised to return to Dale in worsening weather conditions. 

Next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specially trained police officers.
