TWO LOCAL organisations have helped towards Letterston's Luke Harding's appeal to raise £30,000 for Withybush Hospital's Ward 10.

The community of Maenclochog and its surrounding areas have raised a remarkable £3,156 to support Luke Harding's #TeamHarding campaign for Withybush Hospital's Ward.

The money was raised through several events including a Christmas fayre, carol singing with Clwb Gwawr Rhocese Bro Waldo and a carol service with local choir, Côr Harmo-ni.

Luke began fundraising after being diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer.

Luke recently ran the Cardiff Half Marathon and has also organising many other events as part of #teamharding campaign to raise funds and awareness about lung cancer.

Last December he presented a cheque for £18,000 to ward 10, bringing his 2017 fundraising total to more than £30,000.

He is now taking a break from his daily fundraising routine in the new year, to focus on his treatment plan but many supporters are still co-ordinating events to swell the #TeamHarding coffers.

"We chose #TeamHarding as our charity for this year's Christmas fayre and carol service as a few of us from the community had read Luke's story," said Wendy Burge on behalf of the Maenclochog community.

"With him being a local north Pembrokeshire lad we decided to back his pledge to raise £30,000 towards the services at Ward 10."

Audrey Wilson of Barclays Call Centre arranged match funding for the Christmas Fayre.

North Pembrokeshire Floral Art Society has also presented a cheque for £300 to Luke.

The money was raised during the club's 2017 annual demonstration; each year a donation is made to a deserving local charity.

"To say I have been left speechless yet again by people's generosity is a massive understatement," said Luke.

"Considering I've never met some of these people who have very kindly given up their time and effort to back my cause to raise funds for Ward 10 at Withybush Hospital.

"I love the fact that we're breaking down social and community barriers all for the one same common goal.

"I don't feel a 'hero' or 'inspiration' but if those are the labels I'm given then I will wear them with pride and continue to do my bit. Thank you will never be enough but it's all I have for now"
