Team Wales have confirmed 93 more athletes for the Commonwealth Games in the Gold Coast.

The competitors have been announced in 11 sports, including five para categories, for auqatics, athletics, boxing, cycling, lawn bowls, shooting, squash, table tennis, triathlon, weightlifting and powerlifting, and wrestling.

In the athletics, former STP pupil and Pembrokeshire Harrier David Omoregie will run in thr 110 metre hurdles, following his appearance in in the IAAF World Championships in London last year.

And he will be joined by another ex-STP student, but still a current Harrier, Heather Lewis.

The 24-year-old has joined Bethan Davies as the two female athletes who will compete in the walk events - with one going in the 10km and the other in the 20km.

Lewis, from Clerkenhill Farm, has excelled in the discipline for over a decade, and the former British champion is no stranger to international events.

Also in the athletics squad is former welsh female athlete of the year Caryl Jones, of Tavernspite. She was 10th in the World Half Marathon Championships in 2012, and has recovered from injury problems to be selected for the marathon.

Back in October, Jones staked her claim to be picked by running the third fastest time ever recorded by a Welsh woman over 26.2 miles - 2:34.16 in Amsterdam.

That ended disappointingly for the now Cardiff based athlete as he went out in the first heat, but this represents a first Commonwealth Games for the former Under 23 European champion.

In boxing, 21-year-old Mickey Mcdonagh has cemented a fantastic few months with selection.

Lightweight fighter Mcdonagh, from Pembroke Dock, has won titles in Bosnia and Finland, having spent a successful decade training under Graham Brockway at Merlins Bridge Boxing Club.

In shooting, Rudbaxton's Ben Llewellin is named.

And he already proved he has the credentials to perform at the Gold Coast, as in late 2017 he won silver at the International Shooting Sport Federation World Cup Final that took place in Brisbane. That competition took place at the same venie that will be used in April.

In the para-bowls, Raymond Lillycrop of Milford Haven and Jonathan Hubbard of Tenby will join Pauline Wilson (Builth Wells) in the open triples (B6/B7/B8). The pairing had already learnt of their selection in late 2017.

The Commonwealth Games is the only international multi-sport event which features an integrated para-sport programme.

In the weightlifting and powerlifting squad, managed by SAW director Simon Roach, is former Whitland rugby player Rhodri West.

The games run from April 4th to the 15th, and Team Wales selection for the remaining sports will be confirmed in due course.
