THERE will be slapstick, singing and silliness at Theatr Gwaun this week as Fishguard and District Drama Society (FADDS) brings its version of Jack and the Giant to the stage.

With a beanstalk that grows from seedling to towering plant in front of the audience's eyes, a giant, a stilt-legged giant looming above the rest of the cast and local café owner, Allan Cresswell reprising his much-loved role as the dame and sumptuous sets from local artist Melissa Pettitt and her team, the panto promises to be a treat for both young and old.

In this new take on the traditional tale King Bertram has been taking everyone's money, and his daughter Beatrice has a new friend Jack. The plucky youngster climbs the beanstalk to find a giant living in the clouds. Stealing Mrs Clucky seems the answer to everything, but it doesn't work out as he expects and everyone ends up going up the beanstalk.

Performances of Jack and the Giant at Fishguard's Theatr Gwaun begin at 7pm tonight, Wed 24, with a special preview performance where all tickets cost just £5.

They continue with 7pm shows on Thursday and Friday, a 2pm matinee and 7pm show on Saturday and a 4pm performance on Sunday.

Tickets can be bought online at www.theatrgwaun.com, or from the theatre's box office and cost £7 for adults and £5 for children.
