A FUNDRAISING St David’s Day concert at Pembroke Town Hall raised £1,000 for charity despite the horrendous weather.

The hall hosted a Pembroke Male Voice Choir concert in aid of the RNLI, with those attending enjoying the event despite the unexpected snow.

Pembroke Ladies Lifeboat Guild Chairman Daphne Bush said: “The planned concert, courtesy of Pembroke Male Voice Choir, went ahead in spite of the snowfall. Over 80 people, choir, supporters and Pembroke Guild members decided to make it to Pembroke Town Hall, for an ‘always guaranteed’ wonderful concert by our choir.

“The shortened programme, owing to worsening weather, was followed by a cawl supper resulting in £1,000 being raised for the charity.

“A huge thank you to everyone in the town hall with us on March 1 and to the many loyal RNLI supporters who bought tickets but sadly were unable to travel to the event. Every one of you made the £1,000 funds possible.

“It was a great relief to know that supporters able to attend returned to their homes, slowly but safely.

“Thanks also too everyone donating the superb array of raffle prizes; the raffle itself raising £130.

“A final thank you on behalf of Pembroke Ladies Lifeboat Guild members and the RNLI to Rose Howson, the caretaker at the town hall. Rose's help was invaluable during preparations in the afternoon until everyone left in the evening, thank you Rose, we couldn't have managed without you.”
