THE chains of office changed hands at Fishguard and Goodwick town council meeting last Tuesday, with mayor Janet Wyer finishing a busy and eventful year and Jordan Ryan taking up the rains.

"I have been so proud to be mayor of our special towns and I would like to thank everyone for trusting me to take on such a privileged role, and believing I could do it," said Cllr Wyer.

"It has certainly been a roller coaster year. It's been exhausting, exhilarating, frustrating, and at times stressful and there has been a good mixture of tears, laughter and insomnia.

"What has stood out for me more than anything this year, is the strength of pride and care within our communities. Not just caring about our towns, but caring about each other.

"It has been humbling to meet with so many people doing so much - not just groups, projects and clubs ,but also those individuals quietly making such a huge difference . From the bottom of my heart, I thank each and every one of you for all that you do."

Cllr Wyer thanked all those who had helped, supported and encouraged her during the past year. She wished incoming mayor, Cllr Jordan Ryan all the very best for his forthcoming year in office.
