PEMBROKE Dock Community School held its very own little royal wedding today.

Like any other wedding, family and friends gathered at the church to give the happy couples away - only the congregation at this wedding was a little shorter than normal.

The two year three classes sent a bride and a groom to St John’s Church in Pembroke Dock to get a real wedding experience.

Deputy Head, Stefan Jenkins, who helped organise the event, said it was a last minute decision by the school.

“Well, we started speaking about the royal wedding last week,” Mr Jenkins said.

“We happened to mention that the wedding was happening and the children said that they want to take part in something like that too.

“When the kids came up with the idea we decided to run with it, we set about writing speeches and organising flowers and finding a church.

“Obviously we had to do some of the organisation but everything came from them really.”

The school even helped organise for the children to take part in a rehearsal at the church and the boys were fitted for their suits at a local hire shop.

The family of the two year three classes came along to watch and the year four pupils were made part of the congregation.

After the big event, the couples gathered with their classmates and their family for a party and to cut the cake.

Mr Jenkins’ thanked everyone who helped them to make the day a success, many of them providing their help free of charge.

Rev Skipworth, who led the ceremony, has worked with the school in the past, but not put on a wedding for them before.

“It went absolutely wonderfully, it is a joy to share in so special an event with the school,” she said.

“It is a tremendous privilege to be able to do that, I had a wonderful time, we welcome future opportunities to work with the school.

“We send our congratulations to the happy couples.”
