A COMPANY in north Pembrokeshire is bringing superfast broadband to a rural village - and they are hoping to expand in the future.

At a drop-in event on Monday (July 23), Pembs Wifi outlined their plans for bringing superfast broadband to Castlemorris village.

The company already provides 100Mbps wireless internet, but they now wish to provide faster fibre optic broadband.

The company is promising speeds of 1Gbps (1000Mbps), considerably faster than BT, who according to their website offer speeds of 3.5Mbs in the area.

Business partners Nat Morris and Neil Angell decided to start the business after finding the speed of the internet in the area too slow to work remotely, so the pair "took matters into their own hands."

"We've got about four miles of fibre optic cable in the ground so far," said Mr Morris.

"We'd love for the whole village to sign up and we are hoping to start signing up customers this side of Christmas."

Jan Cannon, a local resident, was positive about the scheme, she said: "I'm hoping it will solve many of the problems that we have here at the moment - with the speed and the availability.

"At the moment we are limited in our options and more and more we need a good download speed and reliability."

Western Telegraph:

Terri and Glen Draper were both looking forward to moving over to the fibre broadband, they said: "We are already with Pembs Wifi and we will definitely be moving over to the fibre.

"We will be able to do everything quicker and easier, like download tv shows and films.

"Before moving over to Pembs Wifi we would have to start a download for the next day, that's how long it took."

Neil Angell, Mr Morris' business partner felt the company's focus on good customer service and fast speeds would put them above the competition.

He said: "I think being a small local company customer service is our priority and we have invested heavily in our infrastructure to ensure that we can achieve ultrafast speeds.

"It is already nice to see the joy on people's faces when they go from ½ MB to in excess of 100, when people to 1000Mbps it will be unbelievable."

The pair said that if there was enough interest in other villages in Pembrokeshire then they would look at design options.

Pembs Wifi is £30 per month for unlimited internet and a 12-month contract.

Existing Pembs Wifi customers and anyone who has not received the Welsh Governments ABC grant can get free installation, otherwise, there is an installation fee of £200.
