THE sun may not have shone until late afternoon on Friday last week, but the joyous laughter and atmosphere at Pembroke Bridge Club was an absolute delight!

This special occasion was to join together and celebrate a special birthday.

There was a fantastic turnout for our Club’s owner to acknowledge her iconic 50th, with all of the ladies arriving in their dresses, and the gents in their shorts, with several donning their bow ties!

Gifts galore were gratefully received along with an adorable cake, handmade by the group's very own Sue Batten.

The Director chose a “14” table Mitchell movement and the results were as follows:

Top North/South Mike Baker and John Seal 59.15 2nd Avril Collins and Marnie Owens 58.60 3rd Greg Watras and John Bowen 57.98 4th Perry Crickmere and Nigel Astley 57.00 5th Liz Crockford and Judy Lewis 56.36.

Top East/West Brenda Harris and Carmel Wiseman 70.89 2nd Kath Jenkins and Pam Evans 63.57 3rd Tina Torkington and Bob McKay 60.50 4th Peter and Julie Milewski 58.70 5th Doug Silcox and Tony Cookson 56.7.

Individual spot and raffle prizes were won throughout the afternoon, with the main prizes being awarded to Jane Fletcher and Jane Jeffs (N/S) along with Jean Charnock and Geraldine Alderman (E/W) for scoring nearest to 50 per cent.

A spokesperson said: "A special thank you as always to Lamphey Court Hotel for their wonderful hospitality."
