Eighty walkers and runners braved the misty Castlemartin weather to raise money for the RNLI.

Funds of over £1500 have been raised so far for the RNLI through sponsorship, donations and refreshments at the Castlemartin Range event on Sunday (August 19).

80 people braved the misty weather, some walking with their pet dogs, to take part. Many supporters stayed afterwards, to enjoy refreshments and listen to the music provided by Eljay Sounds.

The Walkers and Runners were sent on their way by Retired Rev, Michael Brotherton, Deputy Launching Authority at Angle Lifeboat Station.

Michael, who has had an amazing career, now owns a retired lifeboat and this year was sponsored by friends to run the Range course for the RNLI.

A spokesperson from the Pembroke Ladies Lifeboat Guild said: "We were thrilled that Michael agreed to start the event, albeit at the last moment, thank you.

"Rachael-Hannah Bush, Guild member, was our head BBQ lady, while Kath Scourfield and Philip Aston, both regular volunteers, provided non-stop service to us all throughout the day."

The BBQ and gazebos were transported for the third year in succession by Bronwen, Alex and Teighe of Malthouse Vets, Narberth.

Teas and home-made cakes were donated by members and Tan y Castell foods, which were served throughout the day, by Sandra Thompson, Una Birtwhistle and Margaret Byers.

The spokesperson added: "I should like to thank the British Army at Castlemartin, Dan Gibson and Steve Sheehan for their total support.

"The British Army Training Estates Wales for enabling this event to keep returning to this unique location for last 27 years raising over £110,000 in funds for the RNLI.

"The support of the Army, our sponsors, family and friends made all of this possible."
