COASTGUARD and ambulance crews have been involved in a rescue operation near St Govans this lunchtime (Monday, August 27).

A coastguard spokesman said they were alerted at 11.50am to a climber having fallen on the cliffs between Bosherston and Saddle Head, near St Govans, with suspected injuries to their legs.

Three coastguard teams were sent, St Govans, Tenby and Broad Haven.

Tenby's All Weather and Inshore Lifeboats were also tasked, along with rescue helicopter 187 from St Athans, an ambulance and a hazardous area rescue team.

After around two hours, the climber was recovered by a rope rescue crew and brought back up to the cliff top.

They were then taken to Withybush Hospital by ambulance.

Emergency services stood down at 2.20pm.
