EVER wanted to take a look behind the scenes at police headquarters?
Dyfed-Powys Police will be throwing open the doors of Police HQ, Llangunnor, Carmarthen on Sunday, September 16 between noon and 4pm for an exclusive view of policing at their celebratory Open Day.
The event is an opportunity for communities to come together and celebrate its 50th year as one service.
On April 1, 1968 Carmarthenshire and Cardiganshire Constabulary, the Mid Wales Constabulary and the Pembrokeshire Police came together to form Dyfed-Powys Constabulary, making it the largest police force geographically in England and Wales.
The name changed to Dyfed-Powys Police in 1974.
Lots has changed since 1968 including the uniform, the locations of police stations and the improvements in technology.
On the open day visitors can expect to see:
• A police pursuit demonstration.
• A road traffic collision demonstration and how police and partners work together at a scene.
• The scenes of crime investigators.
• Officers from the Armed Response Unit and Dog Section.
• Partners from Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service and ambulance service
