A DAY on the golfing green proved to be a great boost to a charity which provides support to children living with disabilities.

Valero Pembroke Refinery’s charity of the year, Pembrokeshire Sibling Group, has received a £1,100 cheque thanks to a day of golfing at Milford Haven Golf Club this July.

Mike Bevan, Secretary of the Valero Golf Society, said: “The Valero Golf Society is delighted to be able to present this cheque to Pembrokeshire Sibling Group.

“The work they do providing respite to children with brothers and sisters coping with disabilities or additional needs is truly inspirational.

“This annual event would not be possible without the help and support of so many individuals and companies, and we are thankful to all those whose contributions made this year’s event another great success.”

Lee Hind from Pembrokeshire Sibling Group, thanked all involved.

“The support we have received this year from Valero has been tremendous, and we are especially grateful to the Valero Golf Society for this amazing donation,” he said.

“We will be putting this money towards supporting our day trips and residential trips and this donation goes a long way to helping our charity’s aim of putting childhood back into the child.”

The annual Valero Golf Society Open is one of the largest competitions to take place in Pembrokeshire, organised by the refinery’s Golf Society.

A total of 120 players took part with teams representing Valero as well as dozens of other Haven energy and local supply chain companies.
