FISHGUARD'S inshore lifeboat launched to the aid of a Norwegian yacht which was dragging its anchors and gradually moving towards rocks in the early hours of Wednesday, September 12.
The Norwegian 34 foot yacht Cleta, with three crew onboard, made a Mayday call shortly before 1am.
The yacht had arrived at Fishguard Harbour earlier in the day and put two anchors down. However they had failed to hold the vessel.
The yacht was gradually moving towards the rocks at Carreg Tomas, to the east of Fishguard fort, and its keel was hitting the seabed.
As the lifeboat crew was mobilising the call was downgraded after the yacht was able to start its engine and move away from the danger.
The inshore lifeboat launched with three volunteer crew and escorted the yacht to a sheltered mooring close to the northern breakwater, after establishing that all onboard were safe and well the lifeboat returned to station.
