A charity football match organised by a mum in memory of her son has raised nearly £2,000 for MIND Pembrokeshire. Alison Yates arranged the game between teams representing Tenby and Kilgetty clubs, as her son, Phil Yates, loved football and played for both sides as a youngster. Phil, who had fought against depression, died in August 2015, and Alison hopes that the funds raised for MIND Pembrokeshire will help others to get the help they need. The memorial match raised £1,316.10, while Alison's JustGiving page brought in a further £680. The money has now been presented to MIND Pembrokeshire officer manager, Lydia Salerno, who said: "In the three years we've known Alison, she's become such an important part of the MIND family. We are hugely thankful for all she does for us. "Alison's amazing efforts have not only raised lots of funds, but her enthusiasm has made her an ambassador for MIND, spreading the word and gaining more support." MIND Pembrokeshire's office is in Quay Street, Haverfordwest and is open daily from 10am. People are welcome to call in for a chat or to seek help and support - no appointment is necessary. Activities, mental health training, counselling sessions and support in many other areas are also available. For more information, call 01437 769982. The Phil Yates Memorial Match cheque is presented by Phil's mum, Alison, and Kilgetty team manager, Lukas Gamble, to Lydia Salerno of MIND Pembrokeshire and Santander branch manager, Carol Freeman.
