POLICE are hunting for a pair of offenders after a robbery at a Prestwich supermarket.

Officers investigating have now released CCTV images of two individuals wanted in connection with the incident at Sainsburys in Bury New Road on August 25.

Shortly after 10.50pm two offenders, one wearing a clown mask, entered the store and threatened staff members stood near the kiosk.

The staff members were told to crouch on the ground before one of the offenders demanded that the till be opened or he would shoot them.

Once the till was opened the pair began stealing cash, and one climbed over the counter and started clearing out the cigarette display. The pair then left shortly after.

No one was injured in the incident and, although threats to shoot were made, there has been no confirmed sighting of a firearm.

Detective Constable Ian Smith, of GMP’s Bury Borough, said: “We have released these images in the hope that somebody can help us identify the two people pictured so that we can speak with them regarding this investigation.

“Although the fact their faces are covered makes it harder to identify them, we are hopeful that people may recognise the clothing they are wearing or their physical features.

“If you have any information that you think can assist us then I would urge you to contact police”
