GIANT vegetables ruled the day at St Dogmaels Village Show.

Oliver Roberts’ giant pumpkin – nicknamed ‘Bunter’ – caused a stir when it rolled into the Memorial hHall.

“We put it into the back of the car using a tractor bucket,” said Oliver.

“We have no idea how much it weighs. We did nothing special for it to grow to such a size. There was plenty of manure. I think we’ll eat it, we should get a few pies out of it!”

Steve Wilson’s Italian squash – a tromboncino – was another impressive giant veg.

“We never intended for it to get this big, it just kept growing,” said Steve. “We are looking forward to slicing it into steaks and eating it.”
