AN OPEN day at Llanychaer's famous garden railway has raised £900 for Withybush Chemotherapy day unit.

The garden railway at Glanafon was set up by Teifion Morris Ifans from Llanychaer who is obsessed with toy trains and has built a miniature railway and village in his garden, with a vast collection of models to populate the landscape.

Teifion started the garden about a decade ago when his son and daughter bought him a toy train and track as a Christmas present.

The track has been added to over the years and visited by people from as far afield as China, Singapore and South America as well as featuring on S4C's Pobl a'u Gerddi.

The open day in July took donations and a cheque for the £900 raised was presented by Mr Evans to staff at the unit.
