COMFY beds, en suite, private balcony... and waking up on the water - that's what will soon be on offer in Milford Haven.

On Thursday (September 20) four self-contained wooden cabins were lifted into the marina by crane, after being transported from Amsterdam to Pembrokeshire.

Promising a 'unique on-water glamping experience', the adorable floating accommodation will each sleep two people, with one designed specially for disabled guests and another that will be dog-friendly.

The self-contained cabins measure 9m x 4m and once fitted out will feature an en-suite shower room, private balcony, WiFi and locally sourced works of art.

Once final decisions on decor and fabrics have been made, the cute cabins will be managed by Pembrokeshire holiday letting agency Quality Unearthed.

Milford Mercury:

Welcoming their arrival, Clare Stowell, director of property and tourism at the Port of Milford Haven, said: “This is a fantastic milestone for us and I’m delighted to have a really unique attraction right here at Milford Waterfront.

"We plan to use high quality furnishings from local suppliers to create a quirky yet quality feel with a strong Pembrokeshire identity which I’m sure will be very popular with guests.”

She said the Port was investing millions of pounds into the development over the next 10 years, will plans to create a new hotel, retail, leisure and residential facilities.

The cabins are part-funded by the Coastal Communities Fund. The Coastal Communities Fund is funded by the Government with income from the Crown Estate’s marine assets.

It is delivered by the Big Lottery Fund on behalf of UK Government and the Devolved Administrations in Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales.

It is anticipated that the accommodation will be ready for letting by the end of the year.

Just along the Haven, Neyland's floating eco pods have proved incredibly successful since their installation in early 2016.

In recent years, there has been significant growth in the popularity of quirky and unusual holiday accommodations.

Once a niche industry, 'glamping' has gone from strength to strength, with website Cool Camping reporting a 50 per cent rise in bookings between January and March 2018, compared with the same time the previous year.
