Division Three West A: Neyland 22-16 Llanybydder

Two tries from No 8 Ben Williams helped cement Neyland's unbeaten start as the All Blacks made a real statement of intent with a hard fought win over Llanybydder.

The Carmarthenshire side were relegated from Division Two last season but are expected to challenge to go back up - and themselves arrived at the Athletic Ground on the back of two league wins.

And yet it was Neyland who played more of the rugby in the first 40 minutes, and they led when a break from scrum half George Evans created a try for winger Patrick Bellerby. No 10 Mark Riley added the extras.

But the home side missed other chances and the visitors kept themselves in it with two penalties from centre Steff Richards, making it 7-6 at half time.

Richards landed a third penalty in the second half but the All Blacks began to up the ante as Williams twice went over for tries, and they sealed a third straight bonus point win when replacement hooker Richard Jones touched down from a driving lineout.

Scrum half Llyr Jones sniped over late on though for a try that Richards converted to secure a losing bonus point for Llanybydder, but it was Neyland that held out for the win.

"We are a young side who are maturing," said assistant coach Steve Evans.

"We still have plenty too learn but we are trying to play rugby and the boys are enjoying it. We still have a long way to go but no one will relish coming to the Athletic Ground this season."
