THE SUN came out for the annual Angle Garden Show on the Bank Holiday weekend.

The show has been an annual event since the 1970s with village organisations and charities, such as the RNLI, benefitting from the proceeds.

In the 1980s the Hibernia Inn took on the hosting of the event and this year the Hibernia invited the PTA of the newly established Penrhyn CiW VC School to lead the organisation of the event and benefit from the funds raised.

In addition to the usual garden produce classes, there were arts and crafts classes and a varied selection of children’s classes, including the new Penrhyn School Cup for the tallest sunflower.

There was plenty to amuse visitors and competitors alike whilst the judging took place.

Rev Josh Maynard opened the show and pupils of Penrhyn School, Ossian Ridgeway and Iestyn Lewis began the musical entertainment with a duet on the ukulele.

Once the judging was over and the prizes presented, following a very successful auction of produce, local bands entertained the crowds into the night.

Many people from across the community generously donated their goods and services to ensure the success of the show; however special mention should be made of Brian Harries of Aquaclear Management, who generously sponsored the medals and rosettes, and Valero Pembroke Refinery who supported the printing of the show programmes.

Tom Bean, Chair of the PTA Garden Show committee, said: “It was a wonderful day; great to see so many entries, especially in the junior section. It was also a fantastic fund-raiser for Penrhyn School”.
