A DRAWING project that begun in Fishguard and Goodwick has inspired people all over Wales to pick up a pencil and get sketching.

In 2016 the award-winning Coast Lines saw lifeboatmen, rugby players, businesses, visitors and school children in the twin towns drawing the world around them.

The final exhibition in 2106 saw Fishguard and Goodwick festooned with community drawings, including three drawing sheds and a thirty-foot panel in St. Mary's Church.

This month also sees the latest Coast Lines latest project, Drawn Together Wales, a collaboration with Voluntary Arts Wales, Cardiff, exhibited at the National Museum and Gallery in Cathays Park.

This was a national drawing project aimed at creating a collective vision of Wales and saw workshops all over Wales. Just under 5,000 drawings from all 22 Welsh counties have been uploaded onto a digital map.

"It's been heart-warming to see how people of all ages and abilities from every county in Wales have engaged with Drawn Together, uploading sketches of what they can see to create a visual description of Wales today," said lead artist Lizzy Stonhold.

"The number of people who have said that they have gained from being involved, felt closer to their surroundings or had the confidence to get out and draw has been inspirational, and amazing to think that it all came from Fishguard and Goodwick drawing together."

Also opening in the capital next week is the Coast Lines Every Drawing Tells a Story, sponsored by AM Paul Davies, at the Pierhead Futures Gallery at the Senedd. It features one of the Fishguard drawing sheds and the 30foot panel depicting life in the twin towns.

"With both exhibitions being displayed at the same time in Cardiff, one in the Senedd and the other in the National Museum, really makes it all the more extraordinary," added Lizzie.

"Usually, projects finish and you just have the memory, but throughout October, you will be able to see what Fishguard and Goodwick achieved and how it inspired all of Wales pick up a pencil and draw.

Both exhibitions run until the end of October.
