A GROUP of parents will be running the Cardiff Half Marathon on Sunday to raise funds for a charity set up in memory of youngster who died last year.

Tirion’s Rainbow was set up in memory of Tirion Preddy, who lost her life on July 13, 2017, aged five. Tirion died just six weeks after being diagnosed with a tumour in her brain stem.

The group has been created to remember Tirion and do something special in her home village of Llangwm to benefit the lives of children from the village and surrounding area, including her two brothers and many friends.

The group hopes to create a natural play-space that can be accessed and enjoyed by children of all ages and abilities, and become a special place for all who knew and loved Tirion.

There will be nine Rainbow runners on the day; all parents of children from Cleddau Reach VC school, including Tasmin Nash, Maria Galdes, Claire and Mark Evans, Jacqueline Warrender, Helen Jones, Kirstie Holder, Sian Dobbs and Tirion's mum Beth Preddy.

Most of the group had never run more than 5k before they began training, and their dedication to the cause has pushed them to their limits.

. It has taken a huge amount of dedication and hard work for all involved, and as October 7 approaches everyone is feeling a mixture of nerves and excitement.

Beth has been amazed by the the support the group has received since creating an online sponsorship page at justgiving.com/crowdfunding/tirionsrainbow Any further support in the final week of preparations would be very appreciated. Tirion’s Rainbow said a huge thank you to everyone who has taken the time to show their support so far Speaking on Tuesday morning, she said: "We couldn’t believe the activity on our page yesterday.

"We were and are blown away by everyone's generosity and support.

"Yesterday we were thinking we might just make our target of £2,000 and then you took us to over £3,000.

"We just can’t thank people enough.

“It is really helping everyone as we train to complete the 13.1 miles in Cardiff on Sunday.”
