THE Met office has issued a weather warning for later this week, warning of a potential flooding risk.

A yellow weather warning has issued a warning of heavy and persistent rainfall on Friday, October 12, which will begin to move north on Saturday, October 13.

The heavy rain is expected to reach Wales between 6am and 11.59pm on Friday, with areas of high ground being most affected.

Over 60mm of rain in 12 hours is expected, with over 100mm by the end of the day possible - the Met office had warned.

Alongside the rain there is expected to be strong winds which may cause large waves along the coast.

As the rain moves north the risk of potential flooding is increased, but the rain is expected to move away from Pembrokeshire and south Wales.

The Met office warns that there is a small chance that homes and businesses could be flooded, and power cuts are possible.

If flooding does occur there is a chance that trains or bus services could be cancelled, and roads may be closed, which may shut off some communities.
