THE HORRIFIC injuries which dogs can cause to livestock if left to run free have unfortunately been visited on one Pembrokeshire farmer’s sheep.

A farmer from near Puncheston has shared a picture on Facebook showing the aftermath of a dog attack on his flock of sheep.

One ewe lamb was left with its jaw torn open while another had bite marks on its back end.

Dog walkers are urged to keep their pets on leads at all time around livestock.

Following a dog attack earlier this year, a Dyfed-Powys Police spokesperson also urged owners to keep their pets on leads.

The spokesperson said: “We regularly put out messages on social media and in the press advising dog owners to keep their dogs on leads and to endure that their security at home is such that their dogs can’t escape.

“Although we try our best to educate dog owners, many still think it is okay to allow their dogs to roam freely in the countryside even when it’s obvious there are livestock in nearby fields.”

A dog attack at Angle last month led to the death of a swan.
