A CHEF at a Saundersfoot restaurant has raised nearly £7,000 for charity by climbing Wales’ highest mountain and then taking part in an astounding five marathons in five days.
Coast Restaurant Head Chef Thomas Hine has raised £6,600 for the children’s charity Ty Hafan, by taking on an epic Welsh challenge, and then hosting a charity dinner.
Working with Project One, Thomas embarked on the gruelling task of climbing Mount Snowdon, and, from the summit, made the 134-mile journey back to Coast by running five marathons in five days. To finish, he hosted a charity dinner cooking up a delicious five-course tasting menu.
Thomas said: “Ty Hafan is a very special place and I’m proud to have represented such a great charity. One mountain, five marathons in five days was tough, but my motivation and inspiration was always the kids, and a certain special little girl called Poppy. I want to thank everyone for their support and all involved for making this happen.”
CEO of Ty Hafan Rob Jones said: “What Thomas has done is extraordinary – he has pushed himself to the limit in aid of families in Wales who face daily challenges in caring for a child with a life-limiting condition.
“The money he has raised will make a real difference to these families, as will the knowledge that there are people out there like Thomas who care.”
