The hunt for murder suspect Steve Baxter is continuing but has now moved away from Haverfordwest, police said today (Monday).

Baxter is wanted in connection with the murder of Simon Clark in Pendine, whose body was found on September 28.

On Thursday, October 18 in Haverfordwest, Dyfed-Powys Police responded to a report of a possible sighting of Baxter, prompting a large police operation involving a helicopter, dog and armed units.

Following extensive searches, it was established that the man was not Baxter.

Police are currently following up sightings of a man in Pendine on the evening of Saturday, October 20, which is believed to match the description of Baxter.

Detective Superintendent Huw Davies said: “There has been a visible police presence in Haverfordwest since the activity on October 18, to speak to concerned members of the public and reassure them that there are specialist officers and staff working to find Steve Baxter.

“Our investigation has since led us to other parts of the force area, although I must stress that enquiries are continuing throughout West Wales.

“Any information from the public is of utmost importance to the investigation.

"Please get in touch if you see Steve Baxter.”
