A Milford Haven woman has lost her licence after admitting driving with two controlled substances in her system.

Elaine Marie Nicholas, of Chestnut Way, pleaded guilty to two charges of driving while over the controlled drug limit when she appeared before Haverfordwest magistrates on Tuesday, October 16.

The court heard that officers could smell cannabis coming from Nicholas’ Ford Fiesta when they stopped her on the Mount Estate at 5.45pm on July 15.

Nicholas, 36, provided a saliva sample at the roadside which was positive for drugs.

Mike Kelleher, defending, told the bench that Nicholas had given up cannabis since the offence, as she had discovered that she was pregnant.

“She has already made attempts to improve herself.”

Mr Kelleher added that Nicholas was a full-time carer for her mother, and would find it difficult to visit her without a driving licence, especially on Sundays when there were no buses.

Magistrates banned Nicholas from driving for 14 months and fined her £140.

She was ordered to pay £115 in costs and a surcharge.
