THE TEAM behind Haverfordwest’s famous lantern parade are taking over HaverHub this Hallowe’en with an evening of light drawing, UV face painting, food, films and fun.

Span Arts and spacetocreate who have led the River of Lights lantern parade for the past three years will host IGNITE on Wednesday, October 31, between 5pm and 9pm.

Invitation is open to everyone, and organisers are keen for anyone who cares about the future of River of Lights to come along to IGNITE as an alternative to Hallowe’en.

Although the hugely popular parade will not be happening this year, IGNITE is a chance to enjoy yourself on Halloween and explore the possibilities of a large-scale community light event in 2019.

On the night you will be able to meet the giant lantern puppets, have a go at creating a beautiful light drawing and have your face painted in stunning UV paints ready for Halloween.

Organisers will be showing a series of inspirational films and there are lots of ways that you can demonstrate your support.

There’s something for everyone with street food and a bar to keep you going all evening.

Rowan Matthiessen, event organiser said: “This is an opportunity to get inspired, have your say and get involved in making ‘River of Lights’ happen in 2019.

“It’s suitable for the whole family; you can pop in or stay for the whole event!”

The event forms part of Span Arts new digital project Span Digidol and organisers are keen to explore how digital technology could be part of the 2019 parade.

Light painter Andy Rourke will be on hand to help you create exciting images using light paint-brushes and digital photography while films explore how other towns have used digital lighting techniques to bring the urban environment to life at night.

The event is free and aimed at people of all ages.
