Half a gram of cannabis cost a former Pembroke Dock man £195.

Jamie Hobson, formerly of Pembroke Dock, now of Victoria Road, Port Talbot, pleaded guilty to possession of 0.5grams of cannabis when he appeared before Haverfordwest magistrates on Tuesday, October 30.

Sian Vaughan, prosecuting, told the court that the Class B drug was discovered when police executed a search in Pembroke Dock on October 2.

She added that Hobson, 29, had a history of similar offences.

David Elvy, defending, said: “He was found with a small amount of cannabis, he was fully compliant with police officers.

“He tells me over the years he has used cannabis, he is trying to cut down his cannabis use. He does want to stop using cannabis.”

Mr Elvy added that Hobson suffered from anxiety and depression and had been out of work for the past five years, which he believed had affected his mental health.

The court heard that he recently moved to Port Talbot in the hope of securing work and coming off benefits.

Magistrates fined Hobson £80 and ordered him to pay £115 in costs and a surcharge.

A destruction order was made for the seized drugs.
