FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 9

ARMISTICE supper at 6.30pm at the Picton Centre, Haverfordwest, organised by Haverfordwest Civic Society.

DINAS Cross Historical Society’s next meeting is at Yr Hen Ysgol, Dinas Cross at 7.30pm.

The speaker will be Rex Harries, whose theme is the Dinas 'boys' who lost their lives in the First World War.

The illustrated talk will consider their families, homes, war records and the cemeteries where they now rest.

Admission is £3. Refreshments £1. Everyone is most welcome.

There will also be an exhibition in the Yr Hen Ysgol display area, including a slide show, war posters and reproduction newspapers, which opens to the public after the talk.

It will remain open on November 10 and 11, from 10am until 3pm.

A SERVICE of dedication for the freshly restored First World War chapel will take place on Friday, November 9, at 7pm, at St Katharine and St Peter’s Church, Milford Haven.

The chapel contains more than 20 original First World War crosses bearing the names of lost soldiers, airmen and seamen.

WAR-TIME singalong at the RAOB Club in Narberth at 7.30pm.

VETERANS’ buffet dance, 7pm at the Town Hall, Pembroke. Tickets £5.

A CONCERT at Pennar Community Church, Pembroke Dock, for the ‘Pembroke Dock 1918-2018: Concert of Remembrance’ has been POSTPONED due to bad weather.

SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 10

PEMBROKE Dock WI hosts a breakfast at the Pater Hall between 10am and noon. Tickets £5 from Councillor Pam George or any WI member.

SERVICE of Remembrance at Military Cemetery, Pembroke Dock, at 3pm.

THE Heritage Centre in Pembroke Dock is offering free entry to servicemen and veterans on Saturday, November 10.

PEMBROKE and Monkton Local History Society commemorates the centenary with an event at Pembroke Town hall on Saturday, November 10, from 10am.

It will feature a presentation, and film premiere of local stories and displays.

AN EVENING of music and poetry to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the end of the First World War takes place in Tenby at 7.30pm.

We Will Remember Them - Battle's End Concert, will feature the sounds of the award-winning Tenby Male Choir, Whitland Male Voice Choir and Goodwick Brass Band, with all proceeds to the Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal.

Tickets, priced £12.50, are available from the De Valence box office from 10am to 3pm, Monday to Friday.

LLANTEG Hall will host a 1918-2018 supper quiz evening ‘100 Years, 100 Questions’ on November 10 at 7pm.

Tickets £6 per person to include pizza and quiz.

Teams of four, prizes for winners and most inventive team name.

Smaller groups welcome, you will be grouped on the night.

Raffle and profits in aid of Royal British Legion.

SPAN Arts presents ‘Between the Crosses’ at Llanddewi Velfry village hall at 7.30pm.

Described as an ‘inspiring and positive theatre piece commemorating the centenary and all those that fought for our freedom’.

NARBERTH Museum will be opening files on soldiers from Narberth on Saturday November 10.

FESTIVAL of Remembrance at St Mary's Church, Begelly, from 10am to 3.30pm.

Displays of stories, memorabilia and artefacts relating to soldiers with local connections.

At 1.30pm there will be a talk by David Llewelyn entitled ‘Voices of Gallipoli - the Pembrokeshire Territorial Army in the Middle East’.

Exhibition continues on November 11.

NARBERTH Quakers will be holding their tenth annual service of remembrance for all victims of war at the town's Landsker Cross at 11am on Saturday, November 10.

Readings, poetry, prayers and insights from a range of faiths will be offered.

The service is in the open air, but there is a bench in the space around the cross for those who need to sit down.

Everyone is welcome to attend, whether of any faith or none.

Following the service, refreshments at Narberth Swimming Pool.

White poppies will be available between 10am and 2pm on Friday, November 9, from a table in the entrance to the Townsmoor car park, by Span Arts.

Donations for the poppies will be in aid of Medecins Sans Frontieres/Doctors Without Borders.

The remembrance for all victims of war is held in conjunction with the Pembrokeshire Peace Group.

SOCIAL evening entitled ‘Songs and Poetry of WW1’ in Eglwyswrw.

Free entry but everyone is kindly requested to bring a plate of food to share, plus their own drinks and glasses.

HAVERFORDWEST Civic Society presents a talk by Ted Goddard about Captain Frances Cromie.

7pm at the Picton Centre. Free for members, £3 for non-members.

POPPY Appeal coffee morning, 10am until noon at St Davids City Hall. Entry £1.

SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 11

NEYLAND Town Council’s service of remembrance will take place at the war memorial at 2.15pm.

If weather is unsuitable, Bethesda Baptist Chapel will be used.

The council is also lighting a beacon of remembrance at 7pm at Brunel Quay Car Park.

The mayor will light the beacon, which will be one of hundreds released across the country to mark 100 years since the end of the First World War.

The event begins at 6.45pm, with a wartime-style singalong afterwards.

MILFORD Haven’s service will take place at the Cenotaph on Hamilton Terrace, with a parade setting off at 10.40am for an 11am service.

A beacon will also be released in the grounds of the Pill Social Centre, Milford Haven, at 7.30pm.

An event organised by the town council will include performances by Milford Haven Town Band and Amateur Operatic Society.

From 6pm until 10pm, free entry, and food and drink available.

A PEACE vigil will take place at the Friends, Meeting House, Priory Road, Milford Haven, at 1pm on Sunday, November 11.

The predominantly silent service is open to those of all faiths, and will involve prayers for a future free from war.

STEYNTON Church will hold a special service at 6.30pm.

HAVERFORDWEST’S Remembrance events begin at 10.50am at the war memorial on Salutation Square. All welcome.

The Town Museum, on the Haverfordwest Castle site, will also be open from 3pm until 5pm.

Museum curator Dr Simon Hancock said: “We wanted to promote access to the museum during this historic weekend, the centenary of the Armistice, and allow the public to see our special First World War exhibition.

“Next year we will be putting in displays and a talk about Pembrokeshire and the Peace of 1919.”

Entry is free but donations appreciated.

A SERVICE of remembrance featuring a mass choir of local singers will take place at Tabernacle Church, Haverfordwest, at 5pm. Free entry, but collections for the Royal British Legion.

THE Last Post will be played at St Mary’s Church, Haverfordwest, at 6.55pm, and at 7.05pm the church bells will ring out for peace.

At 7pm at Haverfordwest castle, a First World War memorial beacon will also be lit.

A COMMEMORATIVE beacon Is being lit in Marloes on November 11.

The event, at The Beacon Field, Marloes, starts at 6.55pm, with The Last Post, and a reading of Tribute to Millions.

It is followed at 7pm by the lighting of the beacon, with a bell peel at 7.05pm, ringing out for peace.

Please park in Marloes and walk to the Beacon Field.

A REMEMBRANCE service will take place at Bethesda Baptist Chapel in Narberth on November 11 at 10am.

A SERVICE will take place at Llanteg Hall from 10.45am, to observe the 11am silence.

All welcome.

MATHRY church will hold a service at 10.50am at the Cenotaph.

A service will also take place at 3pm, followed by a community tea at the church.

FISHGUARD’S Service of Remembrance will take place at St Mary’s Church, Fishguard Square, at 10am.

The parade will assemble in West Street (Golden Mile), Fishguard at 9.30am, and proceed under the direction of the Parade Marshall.

Following the church service, all those in attendance will proceed to the Cenotaph for the dedication and laying of poppy wreaths.

Those wishing to lay wreaths should line up immediately in front of the Cenotaph, where they will be directed by the Parade Marshall.

GOODWICK Service of Remembrance will take place at Goodwick War Memorial at 3pm.

Assemble in Church Road at 2.30pm (outside St. Peter’s Church) and parade to the War Memorial on Goodwick Square for the dedication and laying of wreaths.

A SHORT service of Remembrance will also be held at the Fishguard Harbour at 4.15pm.

PEOPLE will line the Parrog in Goodwick between 5pm and 6pm, to form a ‘Line of Light’ to remember those who sacrificed their lives in the First World War.

Bring a torch or your mobile phone, and meet at the Ocean Lab for what is expected to be a moving community event.

There will also be the Last Post, church bells, fog horns, bonfires, and a singalong courtesy of Fishguard Folk Singers and Singing for Fun.

IN ST DAVIDS, the bell tower will ring out at 6am, followed by a Remembrance Parade at Oriel y Parc at 10.40am.

This will be followed by a service at the Cathedral.

A film called 'Gathering the Graves' will be shown at St Davids City Hall at 5pm.

Bob Phillips, filmmaker will be in attendance to introduce his film.

A beacon will be lit at Cross Square at 6.55pm.

MOYLEGROVE Remembrance service in the car park at noon.

PEMBROKE Dock’s Remembrance parade will take place in Pembroke Dock on November 11.

Leaving the community school at 2.30pm, the route will include Bush Street, leading to St John’s Church, where there will be a service and wreath laying ceremony at the Cenotaph.

The town has also been decorated with poppies in readiness for the day, and drummers from Samba Doc will be among those taking part.

MEET at Pembroke Town Hall at 10.30am for the town’s parade, heading to the Cenotaph for a service at 11am.

GRAHAM Phillips will play Battle’s O’er at 6am at Pembroke Cenotaph.

MONKTON Priory Church will hold a service at 6pm.

THE Last Post will play out at 6.55pm, followed by a beacon lighting at Pembroke Castle at 7pm.

At 7.05pm, St Mary’s Church will take part in Ringing Out for Peace, one of a thousand churches and cathedrals across the country ringing out their bells in celebration of peace.

At the same time, Pembroke town crier will issue a cry for peace at the statue of Henry VII at South Quay car park.

A BEACON will be lit at Pembroke Dock Heritage Centre at 7pm, preceded by a short service.

A COMMEMORATIVE ‘sand art’ event will take place event at Freshwater West will take place from noon until 3pm.

It is part of a series of events on beaches around the UK and the Republic of Ireland supported by film director Danny Boyle.

A large-scale portrait of Major Charles Alan Smith Morris, designed by sand artists Sand In Your Eye, will be drawn into the sand on the beach and washed away as the tide comes in.

A COMMUNITY service at the war memorial, followed by a short church service, will take place at St Issell’s Church, Saundersfoot at 11.45am.

A SHORT service will take place at St Mary’s Church, Begelly, at 10am, with a parade to Kilgetty Community Gardens for wreath laying and remembrance at 11am.

Followed by refreshments in the community hall.

Church open until 3.30pm for displays to be viewed.

At 6pm, service of hymns, readings and poems with soloist Eva Rich.

SAUNDERSFOOT will be echoing to the sound of wartime classics on Remembrance Sunday when a free concert takes place in the village to commemorate the end of the First World War.

Singer Kirsten Orsborn, known as the Royal Marines Forces' Sweetheart, will perform some of the songs made famous by Dame Vera Lynn.

The concert will take place at 4pm. Weather permitting, the venue will be the harbour decking, but if wet, the event will move indoors to the Regency Hall.
