A BUSINESS familiar to many in Cardigan is set to branch out into a new permanent town centre site.

Nerys Evans set up Cardigan Bay Brownies in her home kitchen almost three years ago but now, with demand growing, is set to open her own shop at Pendre House in Cardigan High Street.

Nerys can often be seen on her stall at markets around the area but now feels the time has come to have a more permanent side to her ever-expanding business.

“This is the next step and there are exciting times ahead,” she said.

“I have gone as far as I can and need to move.

“I am really lucky to have such loyal customers who have supported me all the way but with wholesale sales and on-line demand rising, I needed bigger premises.”

Nerys started baking in her kitchen at home, then buying a commercial oven and transforming her garage into a professional kitchen but has outgrown that.

“I have been hunting high and low for the last six months to find the right place,” she said.

“We are still waiting to cross the t’s and dot the i’s but we hope to be open in January if everything goes to plan,

“We will have plenty of new, exciting and delicious treats to offer and a few more bits to the shop as well.

We will keep on doing the market stalls right up until opening.

“I have enjoyed nearly three years at my market stall in Cardigan and in Carmarthen, but there comes a time that I am so busy baking I don’t get to be at the market stall, which is the most enjoyable part of the job getting to meet all my customers, of which most of whom are now friends.

“The Brownie kitchen simply isn’t spacious enough today, and with that in mind, I am looking forward to having the space to bake.”
