A PEMBROKESHIRE singer’s hard-hitting music video has made waves round the world, being viewed nearly 72,000 times so far on YouTube and generating a storm of international media attention.

Jasmine Power recorded Mr. Weinstein will see you now with cult American artist, Amanda Palmer.

The hard-hitting, haunting and empowering duet addresses the issues raised by the Me Too movement. It tells the story of an abusive encounter in a hotel room using two voices from the same woman, the stronger voice telling her she doesn’t have to go through with it and is powerful enough to run away.

After the single was released Amanda flew former Ysgol Bro Gwaun pupil, Jasmine, out to the states to work on a video to accompany it.

The result is a hard-hitting and emotional video, with uncomfortable, powerful imagery, featuring a choir of white shirted women trapped in a hotel room singing the song’s powerful, anthemic chorus.

The video was directed by Noémie Lafrance and shot in the rectory of an Episcopalian church in Brooklyn, made over to look like a hotel room.

“The making of our video Mr. Weinstein will See You Now was an extremely moving experience,” said Jasmine. “It was such an intense shoot.

“The video process wasn’t easy, just as the song wasn’t easy to write, both were a serious and emotional journey.

“As we directed the chorus members through our song chorus, I felt this overwhelming emotion come over me as I gazed into the eyes of each and every woman singing along.

“There were moments while watching the monitors where I felt shudders of pain and sparks of excitement run through my entire body. The day felt powerful, dark, fearless and then light when I would respond to a grateful smile of another woman on set, as she would say ‘thank you for writing this’.

“On the day, I didn’t know where to look, there was so much going on and the scene changes moved fast; white shirts, bare bodies and fake blood. Women who had come together to represent one thing we all had in common, a story.

“This song and video isn’t just about the #MeToo movement for me, it’s for every single woman in today’s world.”
