THE County Council’s Cabinet is expected to recommend a 10per cent council tax increase when it meets on Monday, December 3.
A 10per cent increase would be under £2 per week for band D properties, around £104 annually.
The council said that this would mean the authority will still have the lowest council tax in Wales.
Five options have been put forward: an increase of 5per cent, 10per cent, 15per cent, 20per cent or 28per cent.
A 28per cent increase would have brought the council in line with the average council tax in Wales - an increase of £278 per year on band D properties.
Councillor Bob Kilmister said the increase was needed due to a £19.3 million funding gap.
