A coastguard spokesman said: “HM Coastguard received a 999 call from a member of the public just before 8:45 last night (29 November) reporting a vessel in difficulty off Saundersfoot Harbour.

Tenby Coastguard Rescue Team and Tenby RNLI were sent.

“The lifeboat was stood down before it launched as it was confirmed that the vessel had come loose from its mooring and that no one was in danger.

“After coming free from the mooring, the vessel had broken up in the bad weather, Tenby Coastguard Rescue Team located the vessel and subsequent debris at Saundersfoot beach.

“The owner of the vessel has been informed.”

The coastguard added that they were unable to locate and retrieve the life raft due to tidal conditions.

A council spokesman said: "In Saundersfoot, there have been reports of a vessel breaking its mooring and washing ashore.

“The incident is being managed by the harbourmaster and owner. Debris is expected along the shoreline."
