A PROFOUNDLY deaf student has shown disability is no barrier to achievement, gaining the Pembrokeshire College Equine Student of the Year Award.

Hannah Norman, from Hakin, is studying on the horse care course at Pembrokeshire College and was presented with the award due to her commitment to completing her course work and to undertaking horse care duties to a very high standard.

Course tutor Michael Butcher said: “Hannah never lets her disability stand between her and her achievements and shows a genuine empathy to looking after the horses. She is thoroughly deserving of this award.”

Hannah was presented with her award by the County Show President and the President’s wife Mr and Mrs Brian Harries.

As well as being a dedicated student and horse rider, Hannah goes above and beyond participating in fundraising activities to raise money for fellow riders that are part of the Pembrokeshire Riding for the Disabled Association.
