Innovative north Wales food and drink producer and retailer, Blas ar Fwyd, is rounding off its 30th anniversary year with yet another award.

The company was named Business of the Year (up to 50 employees) at the Daily Post Business Awards 2018, an achievement which further cements the Llanrwst-based business’ reputation as a champion of quality Welsh food and drink.

Owner Deiniol ap Dafydd said: “We’re thrilled to have won this award in our 30th year of business, after a successful year, we look forward to what next year brings.”

Winners of more than 40 Great Taste awards for their handmade products, family-run Blas ar Fwyd has long been a strong advocate of the Welsh food and drink industry – and works closely with over 120 Welsh artisan producers.

Founded in 1988 by Deiniol and his wife Chandra, Blas ar Fwyd has grown into one of the most prominent Welsh food hubs in Wales.

As the range of products on offer has grown, so has the Blas ar Fwyd team – with 40 employees currently working at the company’s Llanrwst base.

Its award-winning products are made at the company’s kitchens and delivered pan-Wales via their fleet of refrigerated vans – the eye-catching livery on which reflects Blas ar Fwyd’s close links with its ‘home town’.

Part of the Welsh Government’s Fine Food Cluster programme – which aims to help food and drink producers by bringing them together to share their experiences and knowledge – Blas ar Fwyd’s ethos has long been that of working with others in the Welsh food and drink industry and promoting the sector on the wider stage.

The business offers a consolidated range of unique Welsh products that are available for wholesale delivery as well as at their successful deli, wine shop and café-bar Amser Da.

It has established close links with specialist importers and vineyards worldwide too, expanding the range of high-quality products available to both businesses and members of the public.
