FASHION brand New Look is to close one of its two Pembrokeshire stores in the new year.

The troubled clothing retailer is pulling out of Tenby, where it has been located in the High Street for a number of years.

A spokesman for New Look told the Western Telegraph that the Tenby branch is amongst up to 100 that are due to shut.

She said: "I can confirm our store in Tenby is due to close and last day of trade will be January 22."

It is not known how many jobs will be lost as a result.

It is understood that another national retailer is poised to occupy the shop unit.

In March, New Look announced the closure of 60 stores - as well as exiting its retail business in China - in a bid to revive its fortunes.

Last month, it added a further 25 to that list and said that a further 13 were also at risk of shutdown.

The Tenby store has not been named on any closure list, but could be amongst those where landlords have chosen to terminate their agreement with the company following a request from New Look to reduce rental.

No response had been received from New Look as to the future of its other Pembrokeshire store, located in Bridge Street, Haverfordwest.
