A Trecwn man was found in possession of £320 worth of Class B drugs.

Brendan Hughes, of Barham Road, pleaded guilty to possession of 32 grams of cannabis when he appeared before Haverfordwest magistrates on Tuesday, December 18.

Sian Vaughan, prosecuting, told the court that police noticed the smell of cannabis emanating from Hughes’ home when they called there for an unrelated matter on October 10.

“He was told that the property would be searched and immediately informed officers he had cannabis upstairs for personal use.”

Cannabis buds and leaf were found, with an estimated total street value of £320.

The court heard that Hughes, 25, had previous convictions for drug related matters.

Stuart John, defending, said: “The defendant tells me that he uses cannabis, all the drugs found were for his own addiction. It’s clear that he needs help for that.”

Hughes was fined £100 and ordered to pay £85 costs plus a £30 surcharge.

A destruction order was made for the seized drugs.
