A YOUNGSTER who has raised more than £170,000 for an upgrade of a Withybush Hospital ward has thanked a shop for the help they have given to her appeal.

Eight-year-old Elly Neville has been flying her prize winning Pembrokeshire Flag for Ward 10 at Withybush Hospital, where her Dad was treated after a bone marrow transplant in 2005.

To support the school girl’s appeal The Original Factory Shop at Snowdrop Lane, Haverfordwest erected a Christmas wish tree in its newly refurbished store to raise money for Elly’s inspirational appeal.

Shoppers from the town were invited to hang a star with their festive wish (anything in the store up to the value of £50) on the tree in return for a £1 donation between 7 and 16 December.

Elly then chose Sue Hayes as the winning wish in the store on 17 December.

Emma Charles manager at The Original Factory Shop said: “Elly is an inspirational young lady raising money for a brilliant local cause and we are so pleased to be able to help her fundraising.

“We hope that all of our customers in Haverfordwest will come in and donate for the chance to win their very own Christmas wish.”

Elly Neville said: “I am so pleased that they have offered to erect a wish tree in the store to help my appeal.”

In 2016 Elly was presented with a British Citizen Youth Award at the House of Lords for her fundraising Elly’s Ward 10 Flag Appeal for Ward 10, Withybush Hospital, Haverfordwest, Pembrokeshire, Wales.

Elly’s family purchased the first piece of new equipment for Ward 10 – a “Sara Steady” – enhanced standing aid with multiple uses for £1,017 plus a bladder scanner for £9,000, a urine analysis machine for £1,000 and two new sofa beds for the relatives room for £2,000.
