THOUSANDS of people welcomed 2019 on Fishguard Square in, what has been said by some to be, the town’s best-ever street party.

The party, frequently named as the greatest in Wales, featured local singers, a community open mic, award-winning vocalist Lisa Allen, local covers band the Sleeping Dogs and top-class tribute act Rob Dee as The Tom Jones Experience.

The event also included a new family-friendly Winter Wonderland for the first time this year. Fishguard Town Hall was transformed into a fairy-lit fun zone with bouncy castles, face painting, balloon modelling, retro games which were all free to access with the purchase of a New Year’s Eve wristband. The wonderland also boasted a bar, refreshments and twinkly-lit chill out zones.

Lisa Allen and Tom Jones tribute act, Rob Dee, led the count down to 2019 and the new year was ushered in with a spectacular firework display followed by more music and dancing.

“Thank you Fishguard,” said Fishguard New Year’s Eve committee chairman, Rain Malone-Hallett. “We can't believe the support people gave us this year.

“The committee has said to me, the new chair, that this was the best ever party and that Fishguard showed its appreciation in just how many bought wristbands. It was so lovely to see the people supporting us.”

“We have some lovely comments coming in from residents and holiday makers. It's been team work at its best.”
