A QUIZ night is helping to realise one woman’s dream of running the London Marathon and remembering those lost to cancer.
Around 55 people came out to help raise money for Michele Wiggins’ chosen charity - Tenovus Cancer Care - at a quiz night at the Watermans Arms, Pembroke in December.
“It went really well, there was a great atmosphere and everyone had a really great night,” Michele said.
“We have lost a few people to cancer, it’s an issue close to my heart.
“Cancer is something that has affected everyone, and I would like to raise as much money as possible for [Tenovus], the more we can raise the better.”
Ms Wiggins said that running the London Marathon has been a long-term dream of hers.
“We raised £310 on the night,” Michelle said. “Santander said they would match-fund it and they’ve helped organise it as well.
“I’ve been trying to get onto the London Marathon for three years. Someone at work at work suggested I go into a bank to see if they could help.
“They came back to me straight away and said that they would help fund the run and two people from the bank came along to the event and took part, which was really nice of them.”
Ms Wiggins has raised £1,455 so far of her £2,000 goal.
